Chocolate held on for the win and is the featured ingredient for the Pan2Plate Chef Challenge on May 3rd with cheese and bacon ending in a tie for second place. Bacon seemed like a shoo-in, but the intrigue of using chocolate creatively in an appetizer, entrée, and dessert must be quite high. And it definitely stands to reason as some of the flavor combinations that appear in the menus of Chefs Rodriguez and Hassler are very interesting – it’s hard not to want a taste! For instance, the first courses – Cocoa rubbed venison, pickled fiddlehead ferns, micro arugula and a citrus-cocoa vinaigrette or garam masala dusted sea scallops with mocha quinoa and a white chocolate beurre blanc? You can’t help but be intrigued.
What’s more exciting is that the menus will remain anonymous until the evening of the dinner and the creator of each dish will be revealed by our chefs themselves. Diners will enjoy and judge the first course based on Taste, Presentation, Creativity and Wine Pairing and Chefs Rodriguez and Hassler will come into the dining room to reveal which dish was theirs. The second and third course will follow in the same manner.
At the end of the meal, after the scores are tallied, we will deem one chef the winner of our first Pan2Plate Chef Challenge. Will it be Chef Rodriguez or Chef Hassler? Soon we will find out!
The dinner costs $60 per person, plus tax & gratuity and begins at 6:00pm sharp on Saturday, May 3rd. Reservations are required and can be made by calling 800.243.5513. To learn more, click here.
